Juno McGuff is freaked out. Her teenage belly holds more than just Taco Bell and she’s found herself in a pregnancy center waiting room. She gives her name, convinced the apathetic paper pusher believes she’s lying.
“She thinks I’m using a fake name like Jean Simmons or Mother Theresa.”
Juno tries to sit and to stay and to wait. But she can’t. Maybe it’s the place; chock full of dentist office aroma with water-stained magazines. Or maybe it’s the fingernails. She thinks back to the haunting comment she heard outside.
“Babies have fingernails.”
In every occupied waiting room chair, Juno is overwhelmed by the sight of them – hands, old and young, with wonderfully distinct, fingernails. She can’t take it anymore, fully realizing something she didn’t before:
Her baby has fingernails.
Now captivated by the little miracle of life in her belly, Juno decides to have her baby.
Across the nation, college students are increasingly passionate about new life. And like the protagonist in the film Juno, they’re courageously stepping into the fray.
Groups like Students for Life are boldly, lovingly acting as a voice for those who don’t yet have one. Check out how a Boston chapter of SFLA recently got involved.
